Policy Statement:

Edgar Shopfitting Ltd is committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment for all employees and contractors. Given the physically demanding and safety-sensitive nature of the construction industry, it is crucial that all employees remain fit for work at all times. The use of alcohol or drugs during working hours, or while on-site, is strictly prohibited.

Scope:

This policy applies to all employees, subcontractors, and anyone working at Edgar Shopfitting Ltd’s workplace or on construction sites.

Objectives:

  • Ensure that employees remain alert and capable of performing their tasks safely.
  • Eliminate the risk of accidents and injuries caused by alcohol or drug use.
  • Promote health and wellbeing across the workforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Employees: Must refrain from consuming alcohol or taking non-prescribed drugs while on duty. Employees are expected to report if they are taking prescribed medication that may impair their ability to work.
  • Management: Ensure employees are aware of this policy during induction and ongoing training. Conduct regular checks and tests when required, particularly after accidents or incidents on-site.

Consequences:

Any employee found under the influence of alcohol or drugs during working hours or on a worksite will face immediate disciplinary action, which may include suspension or termination of employment, depending on the severity of the incident.
